I imagine that MS will have to answer this issue. Casual games are a huge biz and I'm sure that there will eventually be both "legit" and unauthorized ways of making this stuff happen. We shall see though...stupid red tape!

Well, I have my doubts that this will impact anyone at all. I mean, the Xbox 360 comes preprogrammed to allow all content, I doubt there'd be any reason that Vista wouldn't have an option to allow all content.
My question though: Would we in New Zealand get the Australian rating system that I don't recall the name of, or would we instead get ESRB ratings? Built into the operating system, I mean.

it seems that the past few Ninja Bee games have gone through the ESRB, so I doubt that'ld be a problem any more for them. I think this has to do with more of the garage game programmer who does it as a hobby for some extra cash (or fun) on the side.

Going through the ESRB process is not exactly cheap, at least not for an indie developer.
I'm glad to get the ESRB rating for our Live Arcade games, and Microsoft helps a lot to make it as painless as possible, but we probably wouldn't rush out to get an ESRB rating on a new PC-only game, even now that we know how and have done it a few times.

I noticed Outpost didn't have a rating, but CC and Bugs did (on the site at least).
So is it really a substantial amount to pay for the rating? It sounds like the garage game programmers would never get their games put on XBLA without a lot of financial help, and that's a big risk. I hope XNA helps a lot!
