i have been having trouble launching the game. I have previously played for about three hours and then one day, all it did was show the 'preparing to launch' screen, game popped up for about a second and then poof, gone. I thought it might have been my account, but as far as I can tell, it's only this game. any ideas?

sumnoxquedies, sounds like it might possibly be a bug. Can you give us some more information on it? Where in the game are you? Do you remember what level you last played? Any additional info we could get might help us to help you. I'll pass along the issue to our QA.

I also have this problem having just purchased the game.

Running windows 7 32 bit. A few people seem to be having the problem in the steam forum too so looks like a bug of some kind.

Ironically, it launched in Linux under wine but I didn't get textures so I couldn't play it there but at least it would launch :?

Hope this issue will be addresses fairly fast because then I might be able to recommend the game to friends if it works and is good.

It's possible that this may be due to trying to run it in "full screen" mode under certain resolutions. The resolution with the most common difficulty is 1280 x 720 in full screen. It will do just what is described here. Try changing the resolution. There are two ways to do this:

1. In the folder "\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\cloning clyde" is an .exe file named "ClydeSettings". With this you can select from available resolutions and check the full screen box to on or off.

2. In the folder "\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\cloning clyde\data\rawPCOnlyData" is an .ini file called "defaultOptions". You can open this file and specify whatever resolution you desire. The "fullscreen" option in this file can be set to "=1" for yes, or "=0" for no. WARNING: Editing the .ini file can cause difficulties in running the game if edited improperly.

Please let us know if this fixes your issue, and we apologize for the issue.

No luck, here is the ini file I have set:

Code:
[settings]
UseLowDetailModels=0
fullscreen=0
displayOutline=0

[Resolution]
resolutionW=640
resolutionH=480

I have tried toggling uselowdetailmodels/fullscreen/displayoutlie to 1 with same effect.

Window quickly appears and then disappears as game attempts to launch.

The 640 X 480 resolution is the only other option that appears for me when using clyde settings which is what I used to set the resolution and fullscreen to off and then checked the ini file to ensure the settings stuck before toggling other options when that configuration failed to run.

Someone on steam forums was saying it could be due to extra codec packs such as k-lite codec pack being installed. I have that that pack installed on this machine so not sure if that might be causing me problems.

Hrmm... interesting. I've been whacking my head against a wall trying to find any reason for this to happen. I'll try installing the k-lite pack and see if that helps me catch the error so i can fix it.

I'm very sorry people are experiencing these problems. Its such a corner case that its been very difficult to track down whats going on with it.

brim4brim,

Unfortunately I can't really do much else for you, nevilock is going to be your best hope here. The last thing I can suggest is to try manually setting the resolution in the "defaultOptions.ini" to the same that you are currently using for your desktop. This helped me, but it may be a different issue.

Tried this now with full screen on and off with no luck.

I think its probably the audio codec issue from a codec pack trying to overwrite the default codec used in an application somehow.

I've tried adding exceptions to the codec list but no luck. However, there could be other codecs on this machine as its not mine which is why I don't want to uninstall the K-Lite codec pack or mess around too much.

I have had this codec pack cause issues in other games before on different machines over my years of Pc gaming. FFDshow exceptions usually gets around the issues in its configuration though which hasn't worked in this case adding the CloningClyde.exe to the exception list.

Find CoreAVC is also installed though I'd say this is a less popular codec pack and probably FFD show is causing the issue. CoreAVC seems to just contain a H.264 Video Codec but claims to be the fastest. Not sure if that codec is used in this game though.

We have had several reports on this bug and it is being looked at. Unfortunately it has been very difficult for QA to figure it out, as we have been unable to reproduce it. We appreciate your help in sharing system info and the different ideas you've attempted to get around the issue.

I should say it works on my custom built gaming pc which I have moved to same location.

So it just doesn't work on my parents laptop which isn't a big issue for me.

I would be happy to try some fixes with you if it will help some other users though.

I'm subscribed to topic so just ask and I'll help as long as I have access to my parents pc.

no codec packs on my windows 7 gaming pc, I just vlc.

NinjaBee says QA can't reproduce the "unable to launch" error. I have a few questions. Are you using a in-home version of the game or the steam downloaded version since most of the problems stem from Steam. What operating system are you using? I bought Cloning Clyde because I played the 360 arcade demo and liked it, now I'm regretting the decision.

My system:
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: 2.27 GHz
Memory: 4.00 GB
Graphics: Pixel Shader 4.0
Vortex Shader 4.0
DirectX: 9.0C and 10.0
Hard Drive: 180+ GB free
(system shown based on Steam's Cloning Clyde "System Requirements")

ShatteredMirror,

Sorry for the delay in responding. Unfortunately we have been unable to reproduce this problem It isn't as easy as some people might think. PC's in particular are difficult because of the large number of ways a person can customize their machine; however I'll pass this info along as every little bit helps. One thing I might ask is if you are certain all of your drivers are up to date?

I'm having the same problem.

I'm running this on Windows XP SP2 (Bootcamp on a Mac Mini, so drivers are up to date). I also tried messing with the settings, but that didn't work either. I also redownloaded the game on steam, but that didn't work either.
I have DirectX 9.0c
1.83 ghz Dual Core
2048 MB RAM

Are there any log files we can send you? Good luck with finding the problem!
