I was wandering if there will be a combat option in this? Maybe like the war exp in Kaloki?
I know alot of players like the just building and stuff, but maybe fending off wolfs or goblins or maybe another town would be a fun option. :D

I would say no to this. As if you put a combat option in you now make it a tower defense game and take away the love of peacefulness from the original game play.

Exactly. Thanks!

I can't rule out some radical change in the way we treat keflings in some other game ("Kefpocalypse: Urban Harvest"), but for this specific series, we have no intention of going anywhere near combat.

No, NO NO! No combat! PLEASE! AKfK is one of the games my granddaughters LOVE and I do to. Its non-violent, relaxing and pretty stress free. Keep it that way.

If I want combat I will put in Fear2, BioShock, Fallout3, etc. When I just want to unwind after a day at work and play an easy relaxing game with my granddaughters, I start up AKfK. THANK YOU NinjaBee!

I want to give full AttaBoys to NinjaBee for sticking to their guns on this one and keeping it family friendly and maintaining the spirit of the game's predecessor.

Thank you, and you're welcome! :)

By the way, the new game with its local multiplayer support will be even better for child/parent/grandparent play if you're often in the same house! (Though, local multiplayer is limited to 2 people, and you can't play both local multiplayer and online multiplayer at the same time.)

My granddaughters "technically" live next door but they spend 75% of the time at my house. We play co-op on the same xbox or from xbox to xbox via live. The two older ones (11/9) have gold accounts as do I so its easy to play with or against each other on separate consoles in the same house ;)

I know you don't want to do combat, but would you do hunting? I noticed the Keflings from the first game don't have a food supply. This always bothered me. Food is a vital resource for any civilization. I belive food as a resource should be in the game. This bring me back to hunting. In order to get meat for your civilization you would need to make a Hunters Hall. Then depending on what animal type is around you make a building specifically to hunt that animal. For instance you had lots of deer in the woods, so you would make an archery range to train your Keflings at. Then they would be able to hunt deer.

Hunting would be a lot easier to consider. But it's not at the top of my list. It's still killing and all that... :)

We talked about food a LOT in the design for the first game and reconsidered it for AWOK as well. Honestly, the lack of any reference to food bugs me a bit, too. The main reason it went by the wayside is this: What happens when there's not enough food? Do the keflings starve? Do they die? Definitely not OK. So, sure, they'd probably just leave, like the homeless keflings do in AKFK, but that got complicated (can the mayor starve?) and possibly confusing (why do I have houses, but all my keflings are gone?) and it just didn't really serve much of a purpose except addressing the question of how they could survive in reality without food, and reality isn't necessarily a big focus in this game. So, we dropped food (even though it was in our earliest designs, and was in the first prototype we did).

I should add: I very much like the mechanics you described - buildings that teach you how to hunt different animal types. If we were doing hunting, that seems like a great way to do it that fits nicely into the structure of the rest of the game.

No combat. Could you add 256 different colors?
