Does this mean the exit in the first level?

Here's an interview Brent and I did which is mostly about NinjaBee but includes some references to Clyde. John Nielson, the designer of Cloning Clyde, was still too busy to get involved, but we expect him to do more interviews in the near future...

That shacknews article is GREAT for Clyde. The only marginally negative thing was about the backgrounds which he immediately counters with "but they improve soon as more variety is introduced".
But my favorite part of the whole thing -- "P.S. Always remember that you are a special guy."
 I can't wait!

Cool! Thanks very much for posting this. I wasn't sure if this interview was going up over the weekend or not. I'm glad it did...

I love the story about MS not "getting it" until the prototype was shown. And then after seeing it, immediately giving the green light.
Good to know that the delay was directly related to Multiplayer and that the 'Bees have spent the time to make it really full featured and snappy!
So, has John Nielson been assimilated into the NinjaBee collective? Or is he still rockin' the independence thing? (I hope he's been assimilated cuz I'd love to see what other zany ideas he's got in his brain.)
p.s. Original games rock!

Heheh... I think Microsoft knew the game could be cool, but they're certainly picky about games being good enough, and they expect you to demonstrate that in some way before they give you the go ahead. In Clyde's case, I agree with John that it was the demo that was the proof they needed.
I remember being pretty nervous about showing them the game at that point. We hadn't finished Kaloki yet, either. So, we're at a conference and we pile into Cherie's car to go back to Ross's office to show him some stuff, and Ross says "We need to have a serious talk about Kaloki". And I'm thinking "Oh NO, he's going to cancel Outpost Kaloki because it's too weird!" Fortunately, it turned out he was just talking about having a serious talk about how to market the game.
So we showed them the latest Kaloki (which was looking much more polished than previous builds) and the demo of Clyde (which had some rough spots but was a great demo) and Ross seemed pretty happy. We got a ton of support from Microsoft on this game, and I think it had a lot to do with the fact that they could see the promise in the demo instead of having to guess from write-ups and concept art.
About John: The future is still unwritten. John is very independent in spirit and has a ton of energy and ideas that are way too much for a regular day job to contain. He worked with NinjaBee's support on Clyde but had full control over the design and art and technology. At this point, John is working at the NinjaBee offices and helping out with other projects, but we're all very open-minded about the future, and who knows how it will turn out on upcoming projects? Even if he's not officially assimilated into NinjaBee, we were all very happy with the results on Clyde, and we'll keep working together in the future.
John is on these forums (as "Kenworthy"), so he can certainly chime in here any time. Unfortunately, he's moving this weekend and probably won't check the forums for a couple of days.

You were mentioned again in Major Nelson's podcast, but this time it was "....Wahoo Studios, or NinjaBee..." What a correction! Score 1 for NinjaBee!

What did he say? I assume some quick reference to Clyde...

He was talking about the Summer Arcade thing and he went through the list and dates. Although a quick mention he did give a lot of personal praise for the game, moreso than any others that he talked about.
