To respond to the IGN top 10 games thread hereI created this topic to get everyone's list, but I'd like to change things up a bit. List your top 5 established IP games (retro/remake/sequel/board and card games), and your top 5 original IP games (indie, new IP, and also first appearance on console like Marble Blast Ultra).

If you hate my categories, make it your own.

Ready?
Fight!

Forgot to put MY list:

Established IP:
1. Lumines Live!
2. Catan
3. Time Pilot
4. UNO
5. Hardwood Backgammon

New IP:
1. Outpost Kaloki X
2. Geometry Wars
3. Marble Blast Ultra
4. Band of Bugs
5. Cloning Clyde

(Gosh, can you tell I like single-player games?)

Honorable mention to Wik: Fable of Souls and Hexic HD.
I made these lists *fast* so I'm sure I'll change my mind completely once I see everyone else's answers.

1. Band of Bugs
2. Catan
3. Cloning Clyde
4. Carscassone
5. Mutant Storm
6. Mable Blast Ultra
7. Outpost Kaloki X
8. Eets
9. Bomberman Live
10. Small Arms

Notes:

I do not have all of the XBLA games so if I haven't played it and it is amazing that would be why it isn't on the list.

Also I get a fair amount of offline multiplayer gaming in so that influences my list.

This one I am going to really contemplate... :D I don't want to screw up my answers. The biggest thing right now is to decide if I like BoB or CC better. I don't know if BoB is still on that "It is new and awesome!" phase, but it seems like it is going to last even longer than Clyde did for me...

OK, it is sort of done. I am taking the easy way out on some of them... :P

Original
Totemball - It r0x0rz my s0x0rz

Lol, that was a joke, people who don't get sarcasm over the interwebs.

Original
1. Band of Bugs
1. Cloning Clyde (As of right now they are tied)
3. Marble Blast Ultra (even though it was on the original Xbox arcade, so it was its second outing on Live... is that cheating? :P)
4. Outpost Kaloki X
5. Eets/RoboBlitz (They both deserved list, couldn't decide)

Old Stuff
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

NOTE: I have to go back to work for my grandfather, so I will finish it up later. I am going to give reasons why they are awesome too.

As much as I would like to get a list out, I have not purchased enough games so it would be biased.

  8. Uno
  9. Hexic HD
  10. Small Arms, even though I dislike it, it's very well done.

Static, I love how you don't like Small Arms, yet included it... :P I still think I might buy that game someday.

OK, I am ready for an in depth look at my picks... :D

Original
1. Band of Bugs - Just plain fun. Leaderboard chasing is a lot of fun, and the multiplayer just keeps you wanting more. You can chose between three completely different styles of multiplayer too! Regular NinjaBee stuff, and they put some sort of awesomeness potion in their games.

1. Cloning Clyde - Again, leaderboard chasing was really cool, and co-op was done really well on this! Classic original NinjaBee work!

3. Marble Blast Ultra - Great fun puzzle stuff, while still being action packed. Multiplayer was alright, but not as good as the above two titles. Where was the DLC for this one? Felt great getting my final par time for level 60... :D

4. Outpost Kaloki X - My first 360 arcade experience for an original title that wasn't anywhere else (on consoles), and was completely awesome. Great long story, awesome humor, and DLC. I was delighted when I saw the developer kept all of that for their games! (Save DLC for CC... :P) I never was a huge fan of tycoon games, but this was just neat for a weird reason.

5. Eets - I love these types of puzzle games. Change the surroundings so your character can win. The Mario vs. Donkey Kong games did this in a cool way, and this had the same feeling. It is extremely long, so long I still haven't finished it.

5. RoboBlitz - The physics are what made me want it so bad. It controlled in a really cool robotic way that was fluid yet still mechanical. For some reason that was a selling point. The story wasn't great, but the missions were. I don't just spend money on any Arcade game, so one that can make me spend 1200 points is doing something right.

Honorable Mention - Hexic HD - The only game I had when I got my 360. I got PDZ the next day, but this was still surprisingly addictive. Unfortunately it was more fun playing multiplayer on MSN Messenger with my friend (who also has a 360). Maybe Hexic 2 will be worth it, but I highly doubt it. I never could master it though.

Old Stuff
1. Sega Games! - It is a big tie because the games themselves aren't really that awesome after I beat them... it is just the fact that I hadn't played these games in years! One thing you can put under all of these is that they took of hours of my life when I was younger.

* Sonic the Hedgehog - Save anywhere you wanted to! I never dreamed of beating this game with no deaths, until I just restarted to my saves. :D

* Golden Axe - Online and offline co-op! I didn't think they made games like that anymore!

* Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 - Offline multiplayer, and just recently I got to having fun in online games. Too bad it lags a lot online for me. Why couldn't it be like BoB, which is entirely lagless! :P

2. UNO - For only $5, the price of an UNO deck, I have spent 26 days on my Xbox playing UNO (according to 360voice). Online is fun with friends, even when nobody is paying attention to the game whatsoever.

That was a total of 4 games, but the only other established games I have (Robotron and Texas Hold 'Em) are not worthy to be on the list. Sorry.

Guys you do know that there's like a billion Marble Blasts on the PC right? It's not a new IP. I'll make my list later.

Yeah it was one of the first Torque Engine demos and evolved into a full game.

You will recognize a number of the Torque created games if you are a Steam user.

Btw, Vigil is a interesting game made with the same engine. I suggest cheking it out. Warning it is a bit dark for some.( http://www.garagegames.com/products/118/ )

Yeah, that is why Lunar said new to a console. It was on the original XBLA, but I think it was like $20. GarageGames had a lot of offerings on the original, I wonder why they haven't supported the 360 as much.

Game that people have listed that are technically not new IPs:
-Outpost Kaloki
-Eets
-Marble Blast
-Hexic

For all but MB, they are basically ports from the PC. MBU uses a lot of the same maps, yet many new ones as well.

The blog mentioned somethign about not being able to negotiate a price with the publisher for DLC. Since they are the publisher that really doesn't make any sesne to me, but could be internal politics or such.

Apparently they wanted to release the new MBU multiplayer maps for free, but Microsoft refuses and will only release it for a price since it costs a bit to get it out there for download.

That's what I understand too, but based on the fact that NinjaBee has free DLC I wonder what the real story is behind it all. Why not release half the DLC as free and half as premium to cover MS's costs and make everyone happy?

Too bad.
