So I have a question to anyone who has bought a retro game on Live. Is level selection becoming a standard in them? Or will we be stuck with playing the whole game in one sit through like the original? As cool as that might have been 10 years ago when I played Sonic regularly, it will NOT be cool now. Maybe have both modes?

Arcade emulations no. Actual redos usually yes.

Most are arcade emulations however. I wonder if Ghouls and Ghosts will be coming out as it was also rumored. I would purchase that for sure also.

Well, in Galaga you can choose your starting level based on any level you have already attained (certainly made those achievement easier).

EDIT: as if you empty your pockets even more AC91, DDR Universe 2. Now with NO ARROWS. Seriously. It's a new mode called Freestyle for mindless stomping or "people with two left feet".

Yeah I saw that today! Tried to ignore it and go on... way too many rythym games to keep up! About the Freestyle mode, it is making me mad no site knows about it. It isn't a new feature at all, just a recycled one from the Xbox Ultramix series. Every site I have seen is saying it is the new thing coming...when really the only new thing about it are the songs.



So, the conference was lack-luster at best. I do love how some of the best stuff (at least for me) G4 put commercials through!

Some highlights that G4 reminded me why I don't watch it anymore:
-Viva Pinata? (I don't know, downloading trailer now (stupid G4)... from Joystiq looks like a party game though )
-Halo 3 Single Player (if G4 didn't put a commercial in the middle of it... yeah, I was mad!)
-Scene It! (oh yeah, G4 covered that up too! I love Scene It! Looks like it won't be XBLA though)
-Rock Band... G4 showed the singing chick and Peter Moore...more than the actual game. (Moore and more together sounded weird)

Some great stuff might be those I mentioned, and some of the XBLA titles. That one cube version of MBU looked interesting. Some looked plain weird. 100 Titles by the end of '07 though! Woo! Sonic and Gauntlet always a plus! (why no NinjaBee announce? )

Call of Duty 4 online beta! The games graphics looked surprisingly good.

Video Marketplace going Global! Yeah, but only to Europe and Canada. Must suck to be LifeForce right now.

Other tha that nothing looked amazing that I hadn't seen before. All those games being released does make my wallet hate me right now though.

Even though I knew it wouldn't happen, no Live Anywhere stuff! I am in the middle of a new cell phone purchase, and have no clue if I should get a Windows Mobile phone just for it.

EDIT: About the so-called Halo movie trailer... I don't think it was a trailer for the movie. I think that was a call for "Hey, we need someone to take this movie under their studio. Here is what we can do!". I think they WANT a movie, but still don't have a production studio or something to do it for them. If there was a movie that was 100% sure to be released, I bet Peter Moore would have said something.

Meh, I'm used to it.

And also, I'm pretty sure all the Halo movie money dried up and no studio wants to give the film makers any more. Personally, I'd rather see the Red Dwarf movie get made.

I resent the implication that I am a one dimentional, bread obsessed, electrical appliance!

Wii Fitness??? NOOOOOOOOOOO SHIGERU!!! WHY!!!!???

Ugh...Hopefully he announces something else. NOPE.

Microsofts was pretty lame too, all they did was pat themselves on their back for an hour. "GTA IV's trailer was captured from a 360!!", and my response is "It could have been easily captured on a PS3!!". Big deal. A bunch of other stuff was cool, but it is just barely more than what we've seen in the past. I am I the only one who doesn't care much about Halo 3?

Yeah I know! Wii Fitness is a great idea though, but not one I really wanted. I know Wii Fitness will sell like crazy to the audience that the Wii has right now.

The Nintendo conference was pretty bad in my opinion. No big announcements besides Mario Kart Wii.

What made me mad is that they talked about how they knew what we as gamers were concerned with, but never actually answered them. We want better online... You don't do that by giving us a paltry 6 games between both the Wii and DS. Every game going through should be online!

They showed how their online "strategy" used their store and new channels. As cool as a Mii sharing channel is, I want more! I want to SEE some WiiWare games! I want some big name indie developer to come up showing support for the new platform (like a NinjaBee).

They also acted like they were catering to their hardcore audience. Yeah, with their own first party titles that come out for every system. If those are the titles to make the Wii, why didn't they all make the GameCube? I wanted 3rd party games, and more than just Soul Caliber and Medal of Honor.

A potentially cool announcement would have been to talk about their game that they are making for the Zapper! It would have made the conference if they just announced a new first party IP that was an FPS or something like that.

Was anybody else scared with the Zapper when the first two games shown were simple arcade light gun games? I was relieved when they showed Medal of Honor though!



Nintendo was worse, but they had better talking. Their "We are awesome!" videos were actually pretty cool. Microsoft did have some interesting stuff. The 5 best selling titles was interesting.

Did anyone else find it funny that they said "The only console you can play Halo 3, GTA, and Madden is the 360." Lol, but that is only because Halo is exclusive...

That was ridiculous. I did not like MS's attitude. They should have showed Banjo Kazooie (they didn't, did they?).

I don't know about that. I think they did a little better than the other two, but not great by any means.

They kept pulling out these exclusives though! Haze exclusive to PS3 this year! Out of nowhere. Unreal Tournament 3 I thought was going to happen anyway, but 360 will get it eventually (trailer is on OXM disc, so I assume so).

The new PSP isn't as cool as I thought it would be. I knew what it was when he pulled it out, but I was thinking "It looks exactly the same...?". The TV-Out will be neat to play games on your TV though.

Warhawk, which looked like it might be a cool flying game, now looks like a Star Wars Battlefront rip-off.

Echochrome looks amazing! If it wasn't a first party title I would be pushing for it to come to XBLA. If you guys haven't seen this yet, search it! It is like a puzzle game with illusions and stuff. Really neat.

For a little bit I thought he was really going to push the PSN games, but only 2 of the 5 he showed we didn't know about (sort of). I think more indie games would have been sweet. No 3rd party love?

I love how they acted like Killzone was an established franchise. They tried to pull off the "Oh, we forgot one title." ala MS and Halo, but it was Killzone. A game that got lackluster reviews... The trailer did look very nice though.

I also love how 3 different companies talked about how the Unreal Engine 3 has been optimized for their system. Apple did it first, then MS last night, and today Sony. Kind of loses the awesomeness one might think at first. Good job for being non-conformist Nintendo!


I checked out the Halo 3 trailer today, and looks like we ARE getting a 4th grenade. No idea what it is, but it was right there in the UI in the video.

The Bomberman Live trailer has the best spin line ever in it.

"Because you demanded it!" aka because Bomberman Act: Zero was so hideously bad that it had the potential to kill off a beloved franchise that has decades of followers we are issuing this version to redeem ourselves.

Still can't wait for the game, but I just broke out laughing when I saw that.

Haha, I loved that too! I remember when Bomberman: Act Zero was announced, I thought for a while it was going to be an arcade release... because, you know... it is freaking Bomberman!

So far the trailers this year aren't as good as last year I think. Last year a lot of them were for new games though, and MS is focusing on almost finished ones this year. The best trailer I think is the Guitar Hero one, just because it gets me excited how they sync the songs in.

The Blue Dragon demo wasn't as cool as I expected. I really am not a JRPG fan that much, but since Eternal Sonata got me with its cool combat, I thought this ones might too. What the developers call an awesome combat system is what I call crap. Ok, so you can charge it and pick at what point you will attack. Adds a certain strategy, but isn't really that fun. Art looks great though. I wish it had Eternal Sonata's combat, and it would have been great!

Just came back from holidays and the videos on the marketplace are simply awesome!

Can't wait till Halo 3 and Mass Effect...Mercenaries 2 has disappointed me however

Mercenaries 2 didn't really disappoint me at all. It just looks like a lot more of the same, or so I hope. I am mostly disappointed LucasArts isn't publishing it... No unlockables from their movies...
