Yeah, basically MS has certain policies about paid/free content, but having a certain percentage free content it certainly an option if you're willing to work with them on the details.

So what percentage of sales from DLC (and the full game for that matter) goes directly to the developers?

A HA! So my assumptions *were* correct.

Unfortunately, that's officially under NDA, so we can't talk about it. It gets discussed a bit online - you can see a range of numbers bandied about in this thread, for instance: http://www.firingsquad.com/news/newsart ... chid=12327

OK, so around 35-70% goes to MS.

CC sold around 100,000 copies from my last check at the leaderboards. That is $1,000,000 total made.

Low range NinjaBee makes 350k, while high end nets 700k.

So a 150 points DLC map pack is $1.87 (and 1/2 :P).

If these numbers are the same for DLC and for the retail pack, on the low end NinjaBee gets 67 cents, while high could be $1.31.

These make me wonder even more. How much cost goes into a project like BoB (or CC since I have rough/possible/estimated numbers above)? What about DLC?

Apparently they wanted to release the new MBU multiplayer maps for free, but Microsoft refuses and will only release it for a price since it costs a bit to get it out there for download.

I'm sure they could have released the content fro free and added a few picture packs and a theme, but I'm glad they didn't release it at all instead of pricing it and blaming Microsoft (epic) without taking a stand. Because picture packs and themes should be free in the first place.

Edit:
Wow that can be a big cut from Microsoft, but I'm guessing thats only if Microsoft helped with giant portions of the project.
