There was no way I could not make a thread about it this week.
Who all is participating? I am really wanting to, so I am buying Crackdown on Ebay for about $45. My grand savings of $15! I might sell it after the beta, but I bet prices will go down when the beta is over.

Yup, I'll be there! Playing the new Crackdown content for now until it comes out. I'll see you on it

I'll play, although it looks like "more of the same". I hope the graphics are better than the screens.
I'm totally back into Crackdown BTW.

Around here there are tons of release copies of Crackdown. The Target near me had a good dozen with orange "do not place on floor until after XX/XX/XX" labels. Feb 20th or something, don't remember for sure.
With the new content I was thinking of picking it up, but I am guessing it will drop in price after the Halo beta is over. Too many games to finish up at this point anyway.

Hey static, we should do some co-op. I don't think you are on my friends list, are you? If not, you can send me a friend request and I'll be on tomorrow.

I bought one on Ebay last night, and paid with Paypal. I forgot paypal has to clear the payment before they actually give the money to the seller though. The estimated clearing date is Thrusday! I probably won't have the game until next week!

Yeah, I'm up for some co-op, I'll let you know when I have time.
And that sucks AC...anyway to speed it up? I don't think the beta is going to on for long.

Not that I know of. I sent him a message to send as soon as possible. The beta is only 3 weeks...
EDIT: Just checked Ebay, and the seller sent it off this morning. He said it should arrive around Wednesday or Thursday! I guess I will be playing with you all pretty soon.

It is only matchmaking apparently, so no custom games.

Classic!
As for playing, my brother is supposed to send me a copy of Crackdown but I haven't heard any word. He actually tried to get me into the Friends and Family thing (he works for MS and has been part of Halo 3 testing since the internal Alpha started) but it was for Bungie folks only. So, as of now...I'm on the sidelines.
Hopefully that will change, but I'm not holding my breath.
@ staticwrap RE: graphics.
All the previews so far have said that it is Jaggy-licious. I wonder though if Bungie isn't intentionally holding back graphical effects so that when the game *does* release it looks awesome (by comparison). They really have no reason to actually *include* final graphics because then people will just crap all over them and lose interest. By offering the gameplay with slightly crapified graphics they could pick up steam leading up to launch...which is still 4-6 months away.

That really isn't that big of a deal if it was Halo 2. Now with Halo 3, I REALLY want to try out the new settings. Gravity changes anyone?

There was some comments about overhauling parts of the matchmaking software to prioritize connection stabilty. To stress test any sort of change like that forcing matchmaking games is really the only way to go.
As far as graphics every testing of games I have played has used lower polygon models to keep the software running at full speed while creating rather large data logs. Once they remove the extra data collection they instantly swap out to higher polygon models. Well, expect for Vanguard, they actually went to lower polygon models at release...
