The standard MS mic doesn't sit comfortably with my glasses and the mic keeps moving around on it so I purchased a new one.

I ended up getting the Plantronics X30 since it is the same shape/style of my favorite mobile phone headset back when mobile headset had wires. Sound is much clearer and louder, so much so that I keep volume under half mostly. The noise cancelling mic hates me though. It keeps cutting in and out as I talk.

I have tried bending the boom in, but that leads the mic to pickup breathing, which is just not good. I have tried muting the TV as a experiment to see if it would cut out less, but no go.

Anyone have this mic who may know a trick or two to try?

Yeah, the MS mics are not exactly durable goods. I keep my mics, AA battery thingy for my wireless controller and those kind of things in a plasitc storage container. I found that cords always somehow end up on the ground and get run over by my office chair otherwise.

By the by, the X30 cord is a bit short from the volume control to the controller so I made a short extension cable fearing ripping the cable from the plug while stretching my arms out. No, I do not have freakishly large arms.

I remember my original Xbox mic was crap. The plastic part just broke, so I had a good glue/rubber band contraption to keep it working.

Hah, same. Minus that glue part. I just used one rubber band and I think a little tape to hold it together pretty well, although it wasn't entirely comfortable.

I actually have a *great* tip for you because I use the same one I think. I actually MUCH prefered my Halo 2 headset but it doesn't have inline volume/mute...aaaannnnd, I wore it so much I broke it.

Anyway...take the wind screen off of one of your standard xbox 360 headsets and put it on the x30...then use some scotch tape to hold the screen on the boom. Works awesome for me...and I use it as my cell phone headset too.

Oh, good idea. Going to try that right now.

Yeah...that way you *can* bend the boom right up to your mouth.
