There's a yellow part that flashes a question mark and then to some windmill like part, that you need to make the Alien Pod and a later building. I can't figure out for the life of me what I need to make said part, and no one has really filled me in on what I need to be doing apart from getting the blueprint.
Anyone know what that part is?

That's the symbol used for "custom piece". They can be found laying around the map, such as the glowing green barrels, or the rock piles.
