How to get 42 stars

The maximum number of stars I can get is 28, though looking at the leaderboards others are getting 42 stars from a game (and a correspondingly higher score) - how is this done? any other tips for getting a better score?

I'm not sure about the stars, but if you're looking for score, look in the thread i started titles "i just want to say thank you" (or similar).
