A World of Keflings on Windows 8

Postby Captain Jax » Thu Mar 14, 2013 7:29 pm

The Keflings are spreading like rabbits. Here's a few words from our Art Director about the Windows 8 version, and about the future edition of A World of Keflings coming to Wii U!

“With the current generation of consoles coming to an end, we saw opportunities to bring what is perhaps our studio’s most well-loved game to many, many more players,” said Brent Fox, Art Director at NinjaBee. “With that said, we’re proud to announce that in addition to today’s release on Windows 8, A World of Keflings will be coming to the Wii U later this year.”

“Both of these new platforms offered us huge advantages and were ideal marketplaces for a light-hearted city-builder,” Fox said. “Windows 8 gave us the chance to make the game mobile and add in very smooth, natural touch controls. The Wii U has allowed us to significantly enhance the game’s visuals and, with the Wii U GamePad, explore new ways to interact with the game and its characters.”

As an Xbox game on Windows 8, A World of Keflings makes use of the power of Xbox Live to enhance the gaming experience. By signing into Xbox Live, gamers can play as their individualized Xbox Avatar, compete for high scores on Xbox Live Leaderboards, and unlock 20 all-new Achievements. Even gamers who have already earned full Gamerscore from the Xbox 360 version of A World of Keflings will be able to earn an additional 200 Achievement Points when playing on Windows 8.

A World of Keflings on Windows 8 also provides intuitive touch controls and a new picture-in-picture feature allowing players to quickly explore the map while keeping an eye on their avatar’s progress.

The game is now available for purchase in the Windows Games Store for 6.99 USD and supports both Windows 8 and Windows RT. The DLC offerings for A World of Keflings are not yet available on Windows 8. A World of Keflings on Windows 8 does not include multiplayer or Avatar FameStar functionality.

A World of Keflings for the Wii U will release later this year.

Will there be a cloud save/sync coming for Windows ? With the end of RT and the release of 10 it would be nice to finish a game regardless of the device I'm on since it looks like I'm going to have to ditch my tablet soon

We aren't planning on any future updates to AWOK on Windows 8. I agree it would be nice, but there's not much justification to put more work into the game on that platform right now.

Will the DLC also become available to Windows? It feels like the Windows users are missing out on a lot of content :P

I used to own both Kefling games on my brother's Xbox, but I have since moved out and wanted to buy A World for Keflings on the pc, my preferred gaming device. I saw in the forums that it was available to buy on windows 8, unfortunately when I went to buy it there wasn't an option for windows 8 even though there is an icon for it on the game's page. Is this a mistake or perhaps could it just be my computer? Please reply soon, I would very much like to buy this game and am Very excited for DLCs to come out!

Sorry, we don't have any plans to make AWoK available on the PC again. We did have it in the Windows 8 store, but something in Microsoft's Windows 10 upgrade broke it and the only cost-sensible option was to pull the title.

:x There are some issues with building the Castle at the end of the Forrest World. It's referred to as The Almighty Castle in one instance, then all the parts needed aren't bright enough to see. So I got close to the 50" tv like a little kid to make out all the parts needed. Built every part and I made a FEAST HALL?? It did the same thing in the sand world when building the Prince's Castle. But his still allowed me create it. This one shuts down after what it thinks is supposed to be a Feast Hall. There's no Feast Hall even listed on the blueprints list. How do I get it to let me build the Castle?

So basically, it's allowing to build something but it's saying that I haven't built the castle and it didn't even use half the stuff I built to make it, even when strategically placed to not build until last piece hit the ground.

Ah! This is sad news. I was looking forward to the release for Windows 10. Since Microsoft forced me to upgrade my OS to Windows 10, I miss AWoK.

Guess, I'll have to downgrade my OS. I don't even like the new OS.
